AN open night is to be held by Thurso Camera Club to encourage those interested in photography to join up.

The event on Monday (September 2), which doubles as the first meeting of the autumn/winter schedule, will be held in Thurso High School room C1.4 at 7pm for a 7.30pm start, and potential members are welcome to go along.

The new programme will be explained in more detail and available to view will be all the entries from the Inter Club Highland Challenge that was held in Wick, in order to show the general standard of the clubs throughout the north. It is also hoped there will be an announcement about a photography exhibition in 2020 to celebrate the group's 60th anniversary.

Members will meet on the first and third Mondays of the month until April 2020.

Meanwhile, the club members have now completed the last of their summer trips for this year.

On Monday, July 8, members visited Sandside harbour at Reay and on July 14 photographers were treated to a trip to the abandoned island of Stroma to see how the islanders used to live.
