North Highland College to host a week of online open days
North Highland College UHI is hosting a week of online open days starting on Monday, aimed at anyone looking to enter or return to further education or higher education or reskilling.
Prospective students can choose to book from more than 20 open day sessions and join presentations from lecturing teams, chat to staff and find out about the careers available within their industries.
Admissions, funding and support online sessions are also available to book as one-to-ones for those who would like some advice and guidance.
College principal Donald MacBeath said: “Like many other organisations, colleges and universities have had to manage significant disruption to normal business activities over the past few months. As Scotland now progresses carefully along the route map out of lockdown, it is vitally important to confirm that North Highland College UHI is very much open for business and committed to helping students acquire the knowledge and skills needed for future prosperity.
“Our online open days have an important role to play in getting this message across and enabling us to engage with our future students. I hope to see many people connecting with us to find out more about the college and the exciting range of courses we have available in the coming academic year.”
Part of the University of the Highlands and Islands, North Highland College UHI and partners have committed to an autumn start date for courses to reassure applicants and prospective students. The learning approach will combine video-conferencing and remote learning technologies as well as face-to-face teaching where possible and appropriate.
North Highland College UHI has switched to online delivery to support students based at campuses in Thurso, Halkirk, Dornoch and Alness during the Covid-19 pandemic. Working innovatively, staff have gone the extra mile to get materials, supplies and IT equipment to students safely when required, ensuring they are able to complete outstanding course work.
Responding to the local needs too, the college has donated gloves and hand towels to a care home, cleaned and delivered 10 changing room lockers to the temporary medical centre at Caithness General Hospital and deep-cleaned its vehicle fleet to be used by NHS or government workers when and if required.
