Man dies in Strathy road crash

A YOUNG man has died following a road accident in north Sutherland at the weekend.

Twenty-five-year-old Niall Gunn’s body was found in his upturned van which had left the main north coast A836 road at his home village of Strathy, at the crossroads for Strathy East and West, and careered over a grass verge into a burn. The accident is believed to have occurred on Saturday evening though it was not discovered until yesterday evening during a search for Mr Gunn by relatives. A dog which was with him was also found dead.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the tragedy.
