A LOCAL jeweller has donated £650 to Caithness Foodbank after creating some art prints to raise money.
Kelly Munro, who runs a small independent jewellery business, decided to put her skills to good use at home when she could no longer access her studio after the coronavirus pandemic hit.
She had an idea to make some art prints using the technique of lino cutting. Over two weeks Kelly, who graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a jewellery and silversmithing degree in 2013, created four designs to sell and raise money for the foodbank.
At the moment Kelly is based in Glasgow, but she grew up in Wick and is relocating back to Caithness later this year.
Kelly runs seasonal jewellery workshops from Newton Hill Croft where she teaches silversmithing skills such as soldering, saw piercing and designing. Her jewellery collections and paintings are inspired by the Caithness landscapes and traditions.
Pat Ramsay, a steering group member of Caithness Foodbank, said: “We are overwhelmed with Kelly’s generosity towards Caithness Foodbank. She is very supportive of the work and support that we offer throughout the county.
"It’s great that she is coming back to Caithness to live and I’m sure many of us will participate in more of her amazing jewellery and painting workshops in the future.”
