A local businesswoman has donated £160 to the Caithness Foodbank after raffling off a hamper made for a pop-up fashion clothes shop.

Lesley-Ann Sutherland, of Coastline, was no longer able to go ahead with the event due to the coronavirus crisis so she decided to put the hamper to good use.

"It seemed a shame for the prize to go to waste, so I raffled it off at £1 a go to raise money for Caithness Foodbank," she said.

"I was aware of the great work that the volunteers are doing for so many people in the community, and Coastline customers were happy to donate to such a worthy cause."

The hamper contained a Coastline scarf, gloves, canvas bag and some creme eggs to help get the lucky winner – Erin Jappy – through the lockdown.

Pat Ramsay, of Caithness Foodbank, said: "Lesley-Ann runs a great local fashion business and I personally love her styles. It’s fantastic that she has supported our charity and her donation will be used to replenish stock over the coming weeks. Thank you so much."

Over the past two weeks the foodbank, which has centres in both Wick and Thurso, has delivered nearly 100 food parcels.
