A lot of loving dogs are awaiting to find their soul mates in human form this Valentine’s Day but beware of puppy farms, says a Lyth stable owner.

Natalie Oag, who runs the Horsin Around stable, advises the public to avoid puppy farms look into rehoming a rescue dog like her own four-legged friend, chihuahua Louis Vuitton.

"Louis Vuitton was a rescue dog who, with his brother, was living at Inverness SSPCA centre," said Natalie. "I instantly fell head over heels for the little black furball and offered him a forever home. My mother Isobel took his brother Benjamin Buttons.

Louis started to put weight on and and muscled up with his daily walks and Natalie was surprised as how far he likes to go.

"Chihuahuas have great stamina, this is what lead to little Louis taking on his first charity climb [Ben Nevis] raising £5000 for Soi Dog – a rescue centre for street and fur dogs in China. The money raised help build a veterinary centre for the dogs and cats."

The two went on to climb, Snowdon, Morven, Scaraben, Maiden’s Pap, Ben Bhraggie along with others and raise more money for charity in the process.

Natalie says she owes the SSPCA a huge thank you for finding her best friend.

"He makes my life so much happier and I would recommend anyone this Valentine’s to contact the SSPCA rescue centre and look for your perfect partner."
