The Liberal Democrats’ Jamie Stone has retained his seat in the House of Commons after a narrow victory over SNP challenger Karl Rosie.

On what was a disappointing night for the Liberal Democrats after leader Jo Swinson lost her seat, Mr Stone received 11,705 votes – a majority of just 204 votes.

The result was on a knife edge all night but it means the Liberal Democrats retain a foothold in what was once heartland territory.

Mr Rosie got 11,501 votes, the Conservatives' Andrew Sinclair got 5176, Labour’s Cheryl MacDonald 1936 ballots and the Brexit Party’s Sandra Skinner received 1139.
