Free webinars to help Highland businesses make most of apprenticeships

A series of free online events have been organised during Scottish Apprenticeship Week from March 6 to 10 to support local businesses.

The webinars aim to provide more information on help available to take on an apprentice, the types of apprenticeship offered, how to get involved and the benefits of apprenticeships.

Scottish Apprenticeships: Unlocking Potential for your business is a one-hour webinar for small to medium sized businesses.

The online events will take place during Scottish Apprenticeship Week.

The event kicks off Scottish Apprenticeship Week and takes place on Monday 6 March at 11am.

During the event there will be a discussion panel comprising employers, apprentices and a learning provider, all sharing experience of apprenticeships.

It’s hosted by the Scottish Apprenticeship Advisory Board which is the voice of industry for apprenticeships.

Held in partnership with Federation of Small Businesses, Business Gateway, Scottish Training Federation, Scottish Chamber of Commerce and Skills Development Scotland (SDS), the event will feature an SDS employer adviser with practical advice on funding and support available.

The event will be followed by a series of five SDS employer webinars from March 7 to 10, focusing on specific topics based on feedback from businesses.

The 45-minute sessions cover issues such as mentoring, attracting young talent through apprenticeships and how to have a say in apprenticeship development.

Register to attend any of the SDS employer webinars by visiting the Our Skillsforce website at ourskillsforce.co.uk/webinars.

All the employer events are part of a programme of activity being delivered to support Scottish Apprenticeship Week, which is co-ordinated by Scotland’s skills agency, Skills Development Scotland.

Scottish Apprenticeship Week aims to show the positive impact work-based learning has on businesses, people and the Scottish economy.

This year’s theme is Unlocking Potential, with the aim of showcasing what individuals and employers can achieve through apprenticeships.

By unlocking potential and providing the skills employers want, apprenticeships support sustained employment, upskilling and a productive economy.

Foundation, Modern and Graduate Apprenticeships are supporting over 43,000 apprentices and 12,000 businesses across the country.
