Elderly Caithness man given chance by sheriff after pushing wife





An elderly man who assaulted his wife has been given a chance to behave.

David Ward pleaded guilty at Wick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

The court was told that the 70-year-old pushed the woman, causing her to fall, at their home in Thistle Park, Wick, on April 13.

Sheriff Gary Aitken said he would follow the “clear recommendation” in a background report and continued the case for six months to allow Ward, now living in Henderson Street, Thurso, an opportunity while under supervision, to ensure he did not find himself “in such a regrettable situation” again.
