Drink-drive offence detected after Thurso driver had no headlights on

Police attention was drawn to Brendon Stevens' car which wasn't showing headlights and appeared to be travelling at an excessive speed.
Officers followed the Vauxhall Corsa and stopped it outside his home at Murkle View, Thurso, Wick Sheriff Court was told on Tuesday.
Stevens (29) was breathalysed and tested positive. The follow-up test revealed a reading of 76 mg – the legal limit is 22 mg.
Stevens, a self-employed contractor, pleaded guilty to the offence which occurred on May 31.
Sheriff Andrew Berry took account of the accused's limited income and early plea and ordered him to carry out 60 hours of unpaid community work.
Stevens was also banned for a year and warned against driving while disqualified.
