CAITHNESS dog lovers have a chance to nominate their pets for awards which recognise heart-warming stories of devotion and courage.

The event is being run by the Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity. It is keen for dog owners from all over Scotland to nominate their animals for the awards ceremony which is now in its sixth year.

Chief executive officer Clarissa Baldwin said: “We continue to be amazed by tales of courageous canines, devoted dogs and furry fabulousness. The awards ceremony reminds us why the faithful hound has earned the much deserved title of man’s best friend. We are urging dog lovers of Scotland to nominate their marvellous mutts and help us celebrate the very special relationship between man and dog.”

The VIP (Very Important Pooches) winners will be chosen by a panel of celebrity dog-lovers and will be awarded in July at the star-studded Dogs Trust Honours ceremony.

Dogs can be nominated by visiting www.dogstrusthonours.co.uk or by sending details and a good quality photograph to awards@dogstrust.org.uk or by post to Dogs Trust Honours, 17 Wakley Street, London EC1V 7RQ. Closing date for nominations is Monday, May 3.
