Delighted dogs get judged at Saturday’s Caithness Show in Wick





Saturday’s County Show saw a great variety of dogs and their handlers come forward to be judged at its annual dog show.

Conditions on the day were fair as numerous owners and their beloved pets took the challenge of being assessed by the judge, Sue Mileham.

Donna Mackay, steward at the event, said: “We had another great entry this year.

“There were 78 dogs making an entry of 208. Biggest classes of the day were handsome dog, with 38 entries, and dog the judge would like to take home, with 35 entries.

“It was good to see so many regulars and lovely to see some new faces and dogs.”

Novelty classes

Any variety baby puppy four to six months: D Pellow, Wick, with a Samoyed.

Junior handler under 10 years: Maisie McAdie, Wick.

Junior handler 10 to 16 years: Ella Simpson, Halkirk.

Best cross-breed cog: J Smith, Lyth, with a lurcher.

Best cross-breed bitch: A Bremner, Wick, with a Staffie/Rottie cross.

Handsome dog: Adam Bremner, Wick, with a Saluki.

Pretty bitch: R Walling, Dunnet, with a Labrador.

Best coat and condition: M Hamilton, Latheron, with a Skye terrier.

Dog the judge would like to take home: J Moar, Thurso, with a collie/French bulldog/poodle.

Best Cross Breed in Show: J Smith, Lyth with a lurcher.
