Council unveils £26m programme

HIGHLAND Council has approved an additional £24.5 million for roads, bridges and piers, together with an extra £1.6 million for minor flood works.

The 10 year plan, which will fund some £900 million of projects, is to updated at least annually to allow new projects to come on stream.

Infrastructure committee chairwoman Audrey Sinclair said: “We have over 7000 kilometres of non-trunk roads in the Highlands and our road infrastructure is vital to communities.

“This is a substantial investment which will significantly help us improve our roads.”
