A set of benches made by school pupils in Thurso have been given a bright coat of paint thanks to work from the Criminal Justice Service.

Earlier this year Miller Academy Primary teacher David Hale was joined by volunteers including crossing patroller Ross Manson to teach the primary five/six pupils some practical skills.

The class made four picnic benches and over the summer they were painted in bright colours by community payback clients.

Head teacher Jacqui Budge said: “It is absolutely fantastic that the Criminal Justice Service supported their clients to paint our new benches for us and we are so pleased with how colourful and lovely they look.

“They will add greatly to our outdoor spaces and I know that our busy children who built them are really happy to see them finished in this way.

“Our children made four benches in total, which the Criminal Justice Service’s clients painted during our summer holidays, and we decided to gift one to our lovely ELC for our little ones to use in their garden and the other three are being used by our school children for outside lunches and in our large play area.”
