Natalie speaks up for rescue dogs

LYTH-BASED model Natalie Oag is sending out a Christmas message highlighting how rescue dogs can make great pets.

Natalie is also the Highland representative for animal rights organisation People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) and has her own rescue dog – a Chihuahua called Louis Vuitton.

She said: "We would like to send out a message to anyone looking for a puppy or a dog to take a visit to a dog shelter – such as the SSPCA, Dogs Trust, Greyhound Rescue, Soi Dog and many more – instead of going to puppy mills or breeders."

Speaking from personal experience, Natalie says these dogs "have a lot of love to give" and appreciate a warm home, food and just to feel loved.

"This really gives everyone the opportunity to do something good by offering a home to a poor rescue dog in need and in return you will have a walking companion and a best friend."

Natalie says Louis Vuitton is her best friend and adopting him was the best thing she ever did.

"He helps keep me active and fills my heart with joy when he snuggles in for a hug and looks up at me with those big brown eyes."
