PUPILS from the Elise Lyall School of Dance in Wick picked up awards after being invited to attend the British Association of Teachers of Dancing Scholarships in Paisley.

During the day the girls had to take part in a lecture, perform a two-minute solo and sit a written paper. Robyn Risbridger, of Robertson Square, was best junior solo, runner-up in the written paper and runner-up in the junior scholarship.

Beth Harper, of Newton Road, was placed third in the junior scholarship and Chloe Coghill, of Henrietta Street, came fourth.Rebecca Paterson came third in the senior scholarship, runner-up in the senior solo and was also named the senior with most potential.

Claire Risbridger, of Harrowhill, was one of the girls selected to take part but, unfortunately, was injured while practising just days before the event.

However, she was there to receive her certificate and offer her support.

The girls are now preparing for a busy competitive year including a trip to Montreal, Canada, in July.
