THERE was a buzz in Castletown when the Olrig and District Beekeepers' Association held their annual show. The event, which took place in the Drill Hall, was open to the public for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic.
Secretary Alison More said: "There was a great turnout from the community. There were 18 exhibitors in the 38 classes consisting of honey, beeswax, baking, photography and a junior section. Although this year’s honey crop was lower than what had been hoped for, numbers of entries were up on the year and it was great to see exhibits coming forward from new beekeepers who have never shown previously."
She added: "It was particularly pleasing to see such a strong junior section with the highest number of entries in recent years."
