A number of community groups in Caithness are making their premises more Covid-safe thanks to a funding package secured by Caithness Voluntary Group.
It received £6892 from the Beatrice Caithness Local Fund to provide a range of equipment including Zapptizer canisters which allow disinfecting sanitiser to be applied via a spray mechanism.
Hand-sanitiser pumps and social-distancing tape are also being made available to organisations in the five community council areas covered by the Beatrice fund. Groups that are benefiting include Caithness Mental Health Support Group, Pulteneytown People's Project and Lybster, Latheron and Clyth Community Development Company.
CVG development officer Yvonne Hendry said: "The funding allowed us to purchase 10 Zapptizer canisters with the full kit to sanitise community buildings and buses. We also bought 27 hand-sanisiter pumps and 25 rolls of social-distancing tape as well as signs which we have given out to some community groups to help get their premises ready to open when it is safe and advisable to do so."
Caithness Rural Transport, part of CVG, is also benefiting.
Transport co-ordinator Coreen Campbell said: "We are delighted to have the new pressurised hand-held sanitiser to enable us to sanitise our vehicles. Along with masks gloves, wipes, hand sanitiser and sneeze screens, the Zapptizer gives us another way to ensure our passengers can use our service safely."
