Caithness Rural Transport is keen to remind the public that its service is Covid secure, adhering to all the guidelines and hygiene measures.

The service – part of Caithness Voluntary Group – has been operating throughout the crisis, carrying out core work such as taking people to appointments, doing shopping and collecting prescriptions.

Co-ordinator Valerie Mackenzie said: "We would like to reassure people who may be unsure of going out after such a long time indoors that we have a screen in our bus, hand sanitiser, wipes and bags for tissues. All drivers wear masks. We also have masks available for anyone who may not have one – they just have to let us know when they book a trip. The bus is wiped down between each journey and best practice is adhered to."

She added: "We are continuing to deliver Midas [Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme] training."

Transport co-ordinator Coreen Campbell can be contacted at coreen@cvg.org.uk or call 07856 740 649 (Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 2.30pm).

Meanwhile, it was confirmed this week that Caithness Rural Transport will be the charity to benefit from Wick Academy's three-day fundraising fitness challenge taking place this weekend.
