Awesome foursome secures third for Academy
Wick Academy 4 Deveronvale 1
Scorers - Wick: Weir (6) Mackay (24) D Allan (41, 63) Deveronvale: Watt (47)
Wick Academy secured its best ever finish in the Highland League with a comfortable 4-1 win against Deveronvale to secure third place.
It took only six minutes for the home side to take the lead when Michael Steven launched a long ball from his own half to find Gary Weir who beat the offside trap to shoot past Darren McConnachie.
The striker then turned provider midway through the first half as he ran towards a panicked defence before sending a pass through to Sam Mackay who kept his composure to double the hosts lead from 12 yards.

The moment of the match came four minutes before half time when a move which began with James Pickles in his own half continued with a superb pass to Richard Macadie on the edge of the box, for the midfielder to set up Davie Allan who launched a thunderbolt into the top right corner to make 100 HFL goals for the Scorries this season.
The Banffers pulled one back two minutes into the second half when Connor Rennie's pace down the right wing was too much for the home defence as he crossed into the penalty box for Graeme Watt's to unleash a shot past James More.
But the three goal lead was restored in the 63rd minute when Davie Allan got his second. His powerful shot proved too much for McConnachie to handle as he could not parry his goalbound shout enough to prevent it going over.
