THURSO's Royal British Legion is getting ready to rumble again as the Caithness Pro Wrestling roadshow comes to town on Saturday.

A host of big bouts at the Northern Fights event have been lined up as new champ Lucha DS goes up against local boys Lad Chapman and Glen Dunbar.

Sibling rivalry is also on the cards with veteran wrestler Mr E taking on big brother Mr X, while Connor Rose, Russell Adamson, Corvyn Cameron and Reaver will be slamming and pinfalling opponents into submission.

Recent Pro Wrestling debutante Angel Hayze is back in action, with the 18-year-old looking set to showcase her skills once more and demonstrate why she is one for the future.

But top of the bill is the mysterious Lucha DS who, like the great Kendo Nagasaki, conceals his identity and punters will be eager to see if he will be unmasked or emerge triumphant.

He said: "I won the title at the last rumble in Caithness so I'll be defending my CPW belt at Thurso this weekend.

"The rumble was absolute carnage with over 30 wrestlers going for it. They were not all in the ring at the same time but every two minutes a new person entered it.

"I'm taking on both Lad Chapman and Glen Dunbar and, even though I'm the champ, I'm coming in at a disadvantage.

"Lad beat me the last time we fought, while I've yet to register a win against Glen. They have contrasting styles too with Lad being very aggressive while Glenn is more methodical."

Lucha will be covered head to toe with an outfit that hides his true identity and is peppered through with saltires.

He added: "The Mexican-style wrestler Lucha Libre was an inspiration – which is where I get the name and covered look from. The DS part means 'dead stick' which in wrestling terms means to fly without engine power. Flying around the ring is a big part of my strategy.

"Fighting Mexican-style involves a lot of aerial moves like high-flying on the ropes. Obviously you do risk being clotheslined by opponents.

"I've been doing this for the last six years. I joined a professional wrestling school at Barrhead and things have grown since then.

"I'm looking forward to being back in Caithness and there's a great bill lined up for fans which I'm sure will keep them entertained and have them off the edge of their seats."

The Northern Fights event takes place at the Royal British Legion on Saturday, May 25. Tickets range from between £10 to £15. First bell is at 7pm.
