CAITHNESS youth darts players Abigail Duncan and Kara Sutherland made their debuts at one of the biggest tournaments in the world.

The Wick teenagers travelled to Bridlington in Yorkshire to take part in the Winmau World Masters. Both qualified for the event by winning competitions on the junior circuit in Scotland.

Abigail won her last 32 match when she defeated Tamzin Parr, from Wales, 4-3 during which she narrowly missed a 161 checkout. Her competition ended in the next round when she was beaten 4-2 by fellow Scot Sophie Mckinlay.

Meanwhile Kara went out in the last 32 stage after going down 4-1 to Lerena Rietbergen, from the Netherlands.

The overall girls’ champion was Beau Greaves, from England, who beat Ireland’s Katie Sheldon 4-0 in the final.
