Caithness Krakens are looking to take a step nearer an end-of-season glory trip to Murrayfield when they entertain Lochaber on Saturday.

The sides meet in the decider of Pool D in the National Plate, with both having won their opening two games.

The winners will go into the semi-finals of the tournament in which only Perthshire have definitely booked their place.

The Krakens thrashed Dundee Valkyries 2nd XV 116-0 at home before beating Bannockburn 62-7 away.

Lochaber also won both their games with a bonus point, albeit by smaller margins.

Krakens coach Mike Flavell said preparations are going well, with his squad likely to be near full strength.

"We're looking pretty good with a few coming back from injury and others available again," he said.

"We've got good numbers and it looks like we might have to leave a couple out of the squad."

Centre Lauren Gunn returns after missing the trip to Bannockburn, while the coach will be using several exiles, his daughter Emily and Olivia Henderson.

Carly Erridge is unavailable, with Caitlin Harvey likely to slot in at full-back.

Coach Flavell has little intelligence on Lochaber but will not be taking them lightly.

The Fort William side finished second in Caley North 3, the division below the Krakens, who finished runners-up to Highland.

"They're coming off the back of two good cup wins, one away from home, so we'll be going out with the mindset that it's going to be a tough game for us," Flavell said.

"It's a winner-takes-all scenario with a place in the semis at stake."

He added: "We're very excited about the game and it is a great opportunity to showcase what we can do and show how much we have come on.

"We had a slow start to the season but we've got a few girls back and we're aiming to sustain the momentum we've built up over the last couple of months."

The game kicks off at 2pm.
