Wick Amateur Swimming Club was well represented at the recent Scottish Summer Meet held at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.

Emma Mill, Lewis Sutherland and John Mackay formed part of Jimmy Orr's Highland Swim Team along with other top swimmers from the region.

Emma had five swims, with the highlight being a fantastic second-place finish in the 100m butterfly with a new personal best time of 1min 06.88 sec.

She also made the finals of the 50m backstroke (32.84 sec) and 50m freestyle (28.86 sec) where she finished sixth and seventh respectively.

Lewis also had five swims. He managed to make two finals – the 50m freestyle (27.21 sec) and 100m freestyle (59.40 sec), finishing eighth in both races.

John Mackay qualified with two swims in the 50m freestyle (27.83 sec) and 100m freestyle (1min 00.64 sec), just missing out on the finals in both occasions.

Wick coach Allan Sutherland said afterwards: "The Wick swimmers applied themselves superbly.

"It was really pleasing to see the them playing their part in the best-ever performance from the Highland Swim Team at the Scottish Summer Meet.

"Emma's silver medal topped it off."
