As part of the lead-up to the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association’s National Age Group Championships in April, Wick Amateur Swimming Club members have been taking part in two rounds of competitions at the 50-metre Aberdeen Aquatics Centre pool in order to gain times for qualification.

Eva Robertson, Jackson Lunn and Nebi Senguler competed in round two. Up-and-coming swimmer Jackson experienced his first long-distance meet, taking part in the 50-metre freestyle, 50-metre backstroke and 100-metre butterfly, and gained personal best times in all his events.

Eva had three swims over the weekend, competing in the 800-metre freestyle, 100-metre butterfly and 50-metre freestyle, the last of which she completed in a new personal best.

Nebi swam in six events, gaining personal best times in all and being placed in all. He was first for 100m butterfly, 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke, second in 1500m freestyle and 100m backstroke, and third for 200m backstroke.

Committee member Fiona Taylor said: "All swimmers came away from a great weekend of swimming with areas to work on moving forward and enjoyed their experience."

Eva and Nebi, along with Davie Swanson, Lena Forbes and Joe Gill, had earlier taken part in the round one stage of North and Midland District's Age Group Championships in Aberdeen.

All five had excellent swims and achieved personal bests in what was another great opportunity to test their skills in the long-course pool.

Nebi gained placings in three events, taking first for 100m freestyle, second in 200m backstroke and third for 800m freestyle.

Eva took second for 100m breaststroke.

Joe had some top 10 ranked swims. This was Davie's first time racing long course, and Lena raced distance events at long course for the first time.
