Wick Scout Group made the trip to the Scout Association’s Meggernie National Activity Centre in Perthshire, where they had fun with a zip wire, grass sledging, archery and a traversing climbing wall.

The group also helped wardens with centre maintenance, with the cubs weeding and the scouts helping to build a frame for storing pioneering poles.

The trip was made possible thanks to a grant from wind power firm Achairn Energy, which paid for transport to the venue.

Assistant district commissioner Mary Thompson said: “The centre has a wealth of activities without you having to leave site.

“These centres are quite a distance away from us and it is only thanks to Achairn Energy’s kind donation that we were able to go, so we are very grateful to them.”
