Deveronvale will be Wick Academy’s opponents on the opening day of the 2025/26 Highland League season.

The Scorries start the campaign with two away games in the space of a few days, as they take on Vale at Princess Royal Park on Saturday, July 26, before going to Grant Street in Inverness the following Wednesday to play Clachnacuddin.

Then comes a busy August with six league fixtures that month, including a midweek far north derby when champions Brora Rangers visit Harmsworth Park on the 13th.

Academy’s last away victory over Deveronvale was in season 2021/22 when they won 4-3. Steven Anderson scored twice that day in January 2022, with the others coming from Davie Allan and an own goal.

The next two league encounters in Banff ended all square (3-3 in 2022/23 and 0-0 in 2023/24), then Vale won 4-1 in the corresponding fixture last season.

Meanwhile, Academy have been handed an away tie against Forres Mechanics in the preliminary round of the Highland League Cup.

The match is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, which means a new date will have to be found for the Scorries’ away league fixture against Turriff United.

The winners of the Forres v Wick tie will be at home to holders Brora Rangers or Strathspey Thistle in round one on Saturday, November 8. Brora Rangers lifted the cup last season after beating Fraserburgh 3-1 at Grant Street Park.
