Wick Academy take three points from ten-man Turriff
Scorers – Academy: Weir (49), Macadie (67). Turriff: Harris (55).
Wick Academy clinched a win over visitors Turriff United today after a hardfought game.
The Scorries had the most chances in the first half with Davie Allan, Stevie Cunningham, and Richard Macadie all testing Turra keeper Steven Coutts.
Coutts was on form though, collecting all the incoming shots with ease and precision.
Meanwhile Academy struggled to find the finishing touch.

At 36 minutes in Turriff’s frustration spilled over when Cameron Bowden struck Stevie Cunningham in the face.
A straight red card from referee Douglas Ross had Bowden heading for an early shower.
Four minutes into the second half Academy scored the first goal of the game.
Macadie got the ball to Cunningham, who in turn crossed it high to Weir.
Jumping into the air Weir headed the ball down into the bottom of the net to make it 1-0.
However six minutes later an Academy slip-up let Turriff back into the game.
A powerless pass back to Wick keeper Michael Gray was jumped on by Gary Harris, who nipped it just by Gray to make it 1-1.
But the game was far from over for Academy.
A Ross Allan free kick 67 minutes in led to the match winner.
Allan’s set piece found Sam Mackay , who worked it into the box before setting up Macadie who made the winning shot straight into the top right corner.
Turriff kept the pressure on during the late stages of the second half -but it was in vain.
A 91 minute attempt by Turra’s Jerry O’Driscoll ended up just wide of the mark .
The game ended with Wick triumphantly taking three points to jump two places to eighth in the league.
