Wick Academy face a demanding schedule of three away matches on successive Wednesday nights in the concluding weeks of the Highland League season.

The Scorries were already scheduled to play Formartine United at North Lodge Park this Wednesday and they are off to Forres on April 17 following the postponement of last week’s scheduled match at Mosset Park due to a waterlogged pitch.

Saturday’s derby against Brora Rangers at Dudgeon Park also fell victim to a waterlogged pitch and the teams will now try again on April 24.

The Formartine game was brought forward from Saturday, May 4, at the request of both clubs.

In between the trips to Pitmedden and Forres, Academy will be at home to Keith on Saturday, April 13. They take on the Maroons again on Saturday, April 27, at Kynoch Park.

Wick’s last home game of the season will be against Banks O’ Dee on Saturday, April 20.

Academy won 3-1 when Formartine United visited Harmsworth Park at the beginning of March.

Formartine were 2-0 winners away to Nairn County on Saturday, with Julian Wade scoring both goals.

The title race took another twist as second-placed Fraserburgh defeated leaders Brechin City 4-2 at Bellslea Park.

Ryan Sargent’s opener for the Broch was cancelled out by Fraser Macleod but further goals by Kieran Simpson (penalty) and Jamie Beagrie gave Fraserburgh a 3-1 lead at the break.

Danny Handling reduced the deficit only for Simpson to score with another penalty. Brechin were awarded a spot-kick of their own but Handling was denied by keeper Joe Barbour.

Third-placed Banks O’ Dee kept in touch with a 2-1 home win against Huntly. Garry Wood struck twice for Banks O’ Dee, including a penalty, with Andy Hunter netting from the spot for the visitors.

Three players were red-carded at the end of the game.
