Thurso Bowling Club's Lynne Swanson has been honoured as part of a national awards scheme celebrating the unsung heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes in the sport.

She was among the recipients of the Bowls Scotland National Volunteer Awards in recognition of her dedication to the Thurso club's junior section and for encouraging new bowlers through organising "come and try" and "bring a friend" events.

Lynne is the junior convener and a committee member at Thurso Bowling Club. She runs a successful junior section on a Monday from 4.30pm to 5.30pm for children aged five years upwards.

The award was presented to Lynne during a junior competition afternoon on Sunday.
