Two personal bests in Wick 10-mile time trial
On a fine night, with a temperature of 12C and a light north-easterly breeze, two riders recorded personal bests and most others a season’s best in Wick Wheelers’ latest 10-mile time trial.
The good weather also helped with the turnout, with 12 riders taking part.
Kev Stewart, in only his second time trial, improved by over three minutes, finishing in 28 min 39 sec. James Munro broke the 28-minute mark for another PB on the night.
Andrew Richard rode his first time trial since 2019 and did well to record a time of 26.33.
Stuart Anderson was still a clear winner from Danny Miller, with Hamish McAllan third.

Yvonne Richard took first lady, from Lisa Coghill.
Times: 1 Stuart Anderson, 22 min 45 sec; 2 Danny Miller, 24.16; 3 Hamish McAllan, 25.38; 4 Alister Miller, 26.24; 5 Iain Miller, 26.27; 6 Andrew Richard, 26.33; 7 Derek Fraser, 27.01; 8 James Munro, 27.56 (PB); 9 George Ewing, 28.17; 10 Kev Stewart, 28.39 (PB); 11 Yvonne Richard, 28.53; 12 Lisa Coghill, 31.15.
Stuart Swanson posted the fastest time in Thurso-based Caithness Cycling Club’s weekly 10-mile time trial, riding his non-specialised road bike (RB) to good effect in quite hard conditions.
Alistair Miller took second place, just edging out ultra-distance athlete Lorna Stanger who put in a good performance in her first ride of the year, despite having ridden 170 miles just two and three days previously. It was also Phil Cartwright’s first ride of the season and he did well in the conditions to be just 23 seconds behind his best time of 2024.
Times: 1 Stuart Swanson (RB), 25 min 43 sec; 2 Alistair Miller, 26.57; 3 Lorna Stanger, 27.47; 4 Roger Broughton, 27.53; 5 Alasdair Washington, 29.15; 6 Phil Cartwright, 29.58; 7 Martine Hughes (RB), 35.09.
