Trophy double is target for Hotspur as they face Wick Groats again
High Ormlie Hotspur will be targeting a trophy double when they take on Wick Groats in the final of the David Allan Shield next weekend.
The showdown in Thurso on August 12 comes just over a month after High Ormlie thumped Groats 6-0 in the Eain Mackintosh Cup final at Halkirk.
Hotspur ran out 3-0 winners in their David Allan semi-final against Castletown on Tuesday night. All the goals came in the first half at Ormlie, with Ben Gordon getting the opener before a quick-fire double from James Mackintosh.
High Ormlie co-manager Liam Sutherland said: "Castletown started quite well, I thought, but once we got the first goal we never really looked back. After it went to 3-0 we controlled the rest of the game and we kept moving the ball around."
Two and a half weeks after the Eain Mackintosh Cup final, Groats gained a measure of revenge with a 5-0 league success at Ormlie. The Wick side had won 4-0 in their earlier league meeting.

"It will be another really hard battle, as it has been every time we've played them this season," Sutherland said.
"There have been mixed results. They've battered us a couple of times and we got the better of them in the cup final.
"If we can get third in the league, two cup finals and one trophy, I think that would be a great season – but obviously we want that second trophy."
There were trebles for Mark Munro and Aaron Wilson as High Ormlie Hotspur cruised to a 9-0 victory over Top Joe's in their quarter-final on Friday. James Mackintosh (2) and Stuart Campbell scored the others.
Michael Smith netted twice, including a penalty, in Castletown's 5-0 victory over Acks in the last eight. Dylan Alexander, Adam Gunn and Benn Murray were also on target.
