Trophies are handed over after last three finals of season at Thurso
The last three finals of the season were played at Thurso Bowling Club on Thursday.
The gents' triples, sponsored by A9 Plumbing and Heating, saw Brian Tewnion, Alan Swanson and substitute Nigel Gower (who stood in for Douglas Fraser) taking on Eric Gunn, Danny Taylor and Trevor Henderson.
This was a close encounter with good bowls played by both teams. Playing the final end, Trevor's team were leading by a few shots but Brian's team were surrounding the jack for the game.
Trevor had one last chance to eliminate the opposition's bowls and drew in a lovely shot, leaving Brian a difficult last bowl to remove it. Brian just missed so Trevor's team were the victors.
The Tom and Marjorie McDermid Trophy was at stake in the Champion of Champions game between the ladies' and gents champions for 2022, Lynne Swanson and Alec Mackay.
Lynne got off to a good start, leaving Alec to play catch-up, and she went on to ensure that the second recipient of this trophy would be another lady.
The final of the Matt Avery junior competition saw a good battle between Jamie Newman and Scott Bain, with both playing in their second finals.
Scott found his form early on but Jamie did not make things easy for him, playing some controlled bowls. Scott was not to be deterred and played excellent bowls to become the winner.
