SIXTEEN triples contested the Construction Triples at Thurso last Saturday.

In the bottom half, Douglas Fraser, Brian Cormack and Lorna McDermid, bidding to win the competition for a third straight year, found their passage to the final a little harder.

After a difficult opening game they reached the semi-final stage a little easier but came up against the strong triple of Ronnie Bain snr, Alan Morrison and Marina Bain. With the game tied at 11 all after 13 ends, Lorna and co picked up two shots on the 14th end and managed to secure the win in the last end.

In the final, Douglas, Brian and Lorna built up an early lead but Judy, Nigel and Douglas picked up a six on the sixth end to give them some hope of a comeback.
