While the racing surface was damp but fast, the biting cold day made it less comfortable for the parents and spectators.
Though the final results for the 2012 season will not be known for another week or so, this was the riders’ last chance to influence the placings.
Anderson was competing in the 85cc small wheel group. This time he got off to a terrific start, holding onto first place despite the constant pressure from Nairn’s Henry Kerr, who finished just behind him.
The next race was a rerun of the first with Anderson sliding round corners on the loose sand at full throttle and powering up every slope to take off into the air and slam down onto the track with perfect balance and control. He could not shake off the opposition but he stayed ahead to chalk up his second win.
Many riders would feel under so much pressure in the final race that they’d lose their concentration and make more errors but not Anderson.
He coolly kept going at an amazing pace and stayed in front right to the chequered flag to complete his perfect day.
