Caithness Ladies secured their first victory of the season in the SWF Highlands and Islands League with a 5-2 win against Ross and Cromarty.

Playing at their new home in Castletown on Sunday, Caithness made good use of the excellent playing surface to produce a solid performance against a gritty opposition.

The home side went ahead with a side-footed finish by Carly Erridge from a square pass. Erridge soon made it two after reaching a through ball and placing it beyond goalkeeper Megan Finlay.

Kerrie Martin extended the lead when she shot high into the net in a crowded box, and she added another just before the interval when she got on the end of a cross to score.

The second half was more evenly balanced. Ross and Cromarty took advantage of a lacklustre spell by Caithness and pulled two goals back.

Caithness started to play with more urgency and Erridge completed her hat-trick after the keeper had made two fine saves.

Carly Erridge was named as player of the match.

Caithness Ladies are away to Brora on Thursday (7.30pm kick-off).

Orkney Women and Buckie Ladies lead the way in the league, both with maximum points from their opening three fixtures.
