THURSO will kick off their North Caledonian League campaign at home to Golspie Sutherland before facing Halkirk United in a Caithness derby seven days later.

The North Caledonian League has released the fixtures for the 2020/21 season which will start on Saturday, October 17. The league will be split into two divisions for one season due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Thurso and Halkirk will play in Division One after both teams finished in the top six last season. The campaign was ruled null and void after it was suspended in March due to Covid-19.

The other teams in the top flight are Golspie, Invergordon, Orkney and St Duthus.

However, it is not yet known where Thurso will be playing their home matches next season as they are still waiting to hear if the Dammies will be available.

The venue has been out of action for over a year due to drainage problems which have caused parts of the ground to be flooded.

Thurso were forced to play all of their home matches on the artificial surface at Naver last season but the Vikings are keen to get back to playing on a grass pitch.

Halkirk United will not play on the opening weekend of the season due to Orkney taking on Shetland in the Milne Cup.

The Anglers will start their league campaign on October 24 away to Thurso.

Halkirk United will start their North Caledonian Cup campaign away to Bonar Bridge on Saturday, October 31.

Thurso open their North Caledonian Cup challenge at home to Alness United on Saturday, November 21.

North-west Sutherland outfit Scourie will make their North Caledonian League debut against fellow newcomers Loch Ness in Inverness on October 17. They are in Division Two with Bonar Bridge, Bunillidh Thistle, Inverness Athletic and Nairn County U20s as well as Loch Ness.
