THURSO could have teams playing in the Wick and District Darts League (WDDL) playing for the start of this season in a bid to get teams from the town entered into the competition.

The WDDL held its AGM in Thrumster when it was decided to allow teams from Thurso to play in the league.

Previously teams from Thurso were not permitted to play in the WDDL due to the league criteria despite teams from Castletown and Halkirk being eligible.

But league officials decided to change the rules to allow teams from Thurso as the town does not have a darts league. Application forms have been handed into all pubs in Thurso inviting teams to join.

The deadline of team registration is on Sunday September, 10 with a meeting being held at The Queen’s Hotel in Wick at 8pm.

David Miller was appointed WDDL chairman with Gordon Plowman appointed as treasurer, Davy Crowden as secretary and Liz Ronaldson vice chairman.
