Golspie Sutherland 4 Thurso FC 1

THURSO suffered their first defeat in the North Caledonian League this season as Golspie Sutherland ran riot in the second half at King George V Park.

The result means the Vikings have been knocked off the top of the table as Invergordon now lead the NCL by two points after a 2-1 win against St Duthus.

Thurso went into the interval with a 1-0 lead thanks to a strike from Nigel Mackenzie.

But the hosts came storming back in the second half with Sandy Sutherland, who plays summer football for Caithness county champions Wick Groats, scoring twice.

Fellow Caithness footballer Martin Banks, who plays in the summer with Highland Amateur Cup finalists Staxigoe United also scored for Golspie with Alexander Macleod also finding the net for the hosts in a disappointing afternoon for Thurso.
