Thurso Netball Club's players were praised for keeping their composure as they secured a bonus-point away victory over Inverness Emeralds in the Highland and Moray league.

Ariella Thomas and Shona Comrie started the game controlling the shooting circle, and some great shooting gave Thurso an early lead.

In the second quarter Becky Taylor continued the excellent work in the shooting circle and, with Ilona Unger-Russell, Mia Bain and Bethin MacDonald working tirelessly in defence, Thurso held their lead going into half-time.

Inverness Emeralds competed well in the third quarter, as they set about narrowing Thurso's lead. The attacking trio of Rachel Gunn, Anna Swanson and Lisa Mackay worked hard to increase the lead and secure the win for Thurso.

The result was 52-24 to Thurso, with the player of the match accolade going to Bethin MacDonald.

Coach Seonaid MacDonald said: "It was a great team performance from Thurso with all players getting time on the court and all players having a positive impact.

"Inverness Emeralds came back into it. However, it was fantastic to see Thurso have the composure to finish strongly to secure the win and the bonus point."

Thurso are away to Fort William on Saturday in their next match in the Highland and Moray league.
