A Thurso pool team completed a notable double when they emerged as Division Three champions in the Scottish Pool Association Super 15s at Haven Craig Tara holiday park near Ayr.

Thurso "A", featuring players from Thurso and District Pool League, were undefeated in their seven games in the group stage. They beat Forfar "A" 8-4 in the quarter-finals and Arbroath "B" 8-6 in the semis before an 8-3 victory over Central Ayrshire in the final.

Captain Stevie Gray said: "That was our second win this year. We went down in March for the Super 11s and won that event as well, in Division Two.

"It was quite a massive achievement, especially from a little place like Thurso. Overall that's our third success – we won the 11s in 2017 as well, in Division Three."

Thurso team consisted of Stevie Gray (captain), Gary Oag, Albert McIvor, Gordie Manson, Paul Lockhart, Andy Macgregor, Alan Mackenzie, David Blackwood, Willie Mackay, David McGillivray, Gary Reid, Scott Swanson, Stevie Elder, Shane Honeyman and Keith Foubister.
