Thurso's netball players were praised for getting the better of their Lossie West counterparts despite having to contend with a lack of a training base in recent months.
The Highland and Moray league encounter in Inverness ended in a 38-25 victory for Thurso, with Lisa Mackay earning the player-of-the-match accolade for her consistent transitions from attack to defence in the centre court.
Thurso looked a little shaky in the first quarter with new combinations and it took a few plays before they got into a good rhythm. A strong and controlled centre court performance by Anna Swanson and Abby Cook along with Lisa helped Thurso take the lead in the first quarter.
They went into the second quarter with a 13-7 lead and the experienced shooting end of Vicki Swan and Shona Comrie linked well together to build on this.
Going into the third quarter, the fresh legs of Chloe Dunnett and Ariella Thomas rejuvenated the Thurso side as they extended their lead
In the last quarter the defensive unit of Mia Bain and Ilona Unger-Russell kept working tirelessly to maintain Thurso’s advantage.
Coach Seonaid MacDonald said: "This win is a great confidence boost for the team, who have had a challenging season with nowhere to train since the closure of Thurso games hall in September.
"It is testament to the girls' commitment to continue to train and improve under challenging circumstances."
Thurso have their first home game of the season in Wick on March 9.
