Thurso hope to return to the Dammies on Saturday when they take on Inverness Athletic in the North Caledonian League – and the Vikings will fancy their chances if they can replicate the form they showed in the first half of last weekend's game against Invergordon.

Michael Bremner's side held their own for long spells and Adam Gunn gave them the lead just before half-time.

The reigning champions took charge in the second half with Stuart Leslie finding the net twice in the space of three minutes around the hour mark. Ken Morrison added a third, with Stuart Leslie and Niall Docherty getting on the scoresheet in the closing stages.

"We played really well for 60 minutes," manager Bremner said. "As soon as they scored their first they upped their game and we couldn't cope.

"I was really frustrated that we missed an opportunity to go 2-0 up just before they scored – that would have given us an extra lift but wasn't to be.

"When they scored, they showed their experience and know-how of the league to push on."

Second-placed Invergordon have won 17 of their last 18 matches in all competitions.

It was the latest Thurso home match to be switched to the Naver all-weather pitch.

The Vikings remain 11th in the division, while their opponents on Saturday are fifth.

"We're hoping after a dry week we can eventually get a game on the Dammies so fingers crossed that goes to plan," Bremner said.

"It's another tough game. Inverness Athletic are in the top half of the table – but if we can perform as we did the first half on Saturday for the full 90 minutes, I feel confident we can give them a good game and get something from it."
