Thurso Netball Club's latest outing in the Highland and Moray league brought an impressive 43-36 victory over Inverness Rubies at Inverness Royal Academy.

Thurso started well with some strong shooting from Ariella Thomas and Vicki Swan, and they went into quarter time with a comfortable lead.

Rubies came back fighting in the second quarter with some very physical play. The Thurso defensive unit of Ilona Unger-Russell, Mia Bain and Lisa Mackay had to work hard to preserve the lead and keep the long-range shooting of the Rubies at bay.

The mid court of Bethin MacDonald, Anna Swanson and Abby Cook had to work under pressure to feed into the circle to continue going goal for goal with their experienced opponents.

In the final quarter, defender Mia Bain made a switch into goal attack and injected pace into the shooting circle. Thurso were able to hold on for the victory.

Bethin MacDonald was named as player of the match after making vital interceptions throughout.
