TEENAGER Chelsea Bain has qualified for the national bowling championships in her first year playing in the Scottish under-25 juniors’ section.

The Thurso bowler claimed the junior district title at Inverurie last monthJune and will now travel to the National Centre for Bowling at Northfield, Ayr, for the national competition, which runs from July 26-31.

Following this achievement Chelsea’s mum received a Facebook message from David Bolt, an English internationalist with a very long bowling CV of achievements and owner of Bolt Bowls. He offered to sponsor the 14-year-old for the national championships and has provided her with clothing and accessories.

She is grateful to have received the sponsorship and is delighted with the products.

Chelsea said: “I never expected to qualify for the national championships.

“As it was my first year in the competition I was just looking to get more bowling experience, so to qualify was just amazing.

“Then to get the sponsorship from Bolt Bowls really was brilliant – I can’t thank David enough for the gear and the support.”
