Caithness women face their toughest challenge so far as they complete their debut Caley North Region League rugby campaign at home to Shetland on Saturday.

The islanders are looking to make it seven wins out of seven to secure the title in style.

Any slip-up and they could be pipped were Orkney Dragons to score a bonus-point win in their final match in Peterhead.

Krakens coach Mike Flavell is confident the squad will regroup and recover from their 61-7 trouncing at Peterhead in their last outing.

He is looking for them to put on a decent display and harvest the single point they need to pip Craig Dunain for third spot.

"We want to make Shetland work hard for anything they get," he said. "We'll be going out to play our usual game plan of trying to build the platform to work the ball out wide, where the space is."

Flavell has set his players the challenge of at the least gaining the single bonus point that would allow them to climb above Craig Dunain.

"I think if somebody had said at the start of the season that on the final day we would have a chance of finishing third, we'd have been pretty pleased," he added.

The good news for the Krakens is that they can welcome back some regulars who missed the Peterhead game.

Number eight Emmy Smith, flanker Helen Richard, centre Olivia Henderson and full-back Caitlin Harvey are all set to return to the 20-strong squad. Shannon Pasotti misses out with a hamstring injury, while Emily Flavell is unavailable.

The match at Millbank kicks off at 2pm.
