Player/manager Kyle Innes is confident that Acks will begin moving up the Caithness AFA Division Two table once they start showing more consistency and cohesion within games.

The Thurso side are making a fresh start after dropping down from the top flight last year and they picked up their second win of the season with a 2-1 victory over town rivals Pentland at the Dammies on Thursday night.

Harvey Labor and Lewis Fraser scored for Acks, with Pentland’s goal coming from Kian Helliwell.

Acks are fifth in the table but have played fewer fixtures than any other club in the seven-team division.

Innes said: “Starting off again after relegation was always going to be tough, on top of a very competitive second division.

“We have some talented young players who have come into the team this year with great enthusiasm, which is refreshing.

“Despite some results not going our way – which a lot of the time is down to our own doing – the potential within the squad is undeniable, and it’s still early into the season.

“We have to take each game as it comes. The quality is definitely there – we just need to find that bit of consistency and cohesion during games and the results will follow.”
