Perfect summer weather conditions meant for a very successful Caithness Riding Club camp at the weekend.
A total of 23 riders, including one participant from Orkney, took advantage of the outdoor non-residential two-day clinic which involved coaching sessions from local instructors – James Munro and Jean Gunn.
Over the weekend those taking part were able to enjoy lessons on the flat, showjumping, cross-country/JumpCross and a hack round the venue at Sibster Mains, Wick.
For some it was their first outing for a while, with others taking the chance to get young horses out in company, and a few had enough energy to bring two of their mounts along for the experience.
The good weather made it easy for people to social distance and the packed lunches from the Home Bakery, Wick, went down a treat outside in the sunshine.
The club was able to have a great team of committee members on hand to help out on the ground and take plenty of photos which will hopefully go on the new club website.
A working hunter clinic with Colin Hexley and clear-round jumping over rustic fences was held by the club earlier this month. The next big event on the calendar is the open show which is due to take place on Saturday, July 17, at Netherton Farm, Bilbster, by kind permission of the Miller family.
