Success for young Wick swimmers

In the 10-and-under age group Wick’s representatives were Emma Fishenden, Kirsten Gunn, Erin Hamilton, Sarah Harper, Shona Miller, Abby Munro, Maja Pearson, Carrie Robertson, Carly Sinclair, Grant Aitkenhead, Robbie Gunn, Angus Henry, Ben Sinclair and Adam Williamson.

There were 28 PBs in this age group, with many of the swimmers taking between 20 and 45 seconds off their previous records.

There were several Wick medal winners in this age group. Ben Sinclair won silver for 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke. He also won bronze for 50m butterfly.

Robbie Gunn won gold for 50m breaststroke and bronze for 50m freestyle. Carly Sinclair completed the medal haul by winning bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

Sarah and Robbie also picked up fourth-place ribbons – Sarah for 50m backstroke, Robbie for 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke.

In the 11-to-12 years age group, Wick had Ashley Bartholomew, Abby Cook, Katie Jolly, Isla Miller, Bryony Munro, Stewart Atkins, Scott Bremner, Iain Fishenden, Declan Gunn, Ross Gunn, Max Hagan, Liam Harper, Frank Macgregor, Owen Manson and Kyle Sutherland.

There were several PBs among the Wick girls in this age group while two boys took medals home.

Stewart Atkins won silver for 100m breaststroke and a fourth-place ribbon for 100m butterfly and Scott Bremner won bronze for 100m breaststroke and a fourth place ribbon for 100m freestyle.

The 13-to-14 years age group had five Wick entrants – Robyn Aitkenhead, Ryan Edwards, Scott Gunn, Fraser Tait and Stacey Webster.

Fraser Tait was the only Wick medallist here with a silver in the 100m backstroke and a fourth-place ribbon in the 100m butterfly.

The 15-years-and-over group featured Eve Strachan, Stephanie Webster and Ross Perry swimming for Wick.

Stephanie won silver for 100m butterfly, bronze for 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle and a fourth-place ribbon for the girls’ open 50m freestyle.

The relays always add a bit of excitement and the Wick A and B teams did well to pick up third and fourth places respectively in the boys’ eight-to-13 years 200m medley relay and third and fourth respectively in the eight-to-13 years 200m freestyle relay.
