Staxigoe take points in seven-goal thriller

STAXIGOE United edged out Thurso Acks in a seven-goal thriller at Upper Bignold in CAFA Division One.

Despite Craig Trueman and James Mackintosh (2) scoring for Acks, strikes from Martin Banks, Marc Coghill, Chrissy Green and Darren Sheppard sealed a 4-3 victory for Staxigoe.

In the quarter-finals of the Steven Cup, Castletown were victorious in the tie of the round after they demolished Wick Thistle 4-1.

Chris Sutherland (2), Connor MacIntosh and Jack McKechnie were on target for the Division Two leaders, with Thistle’s consolation coming via Andy Falconer.

In the semi-finals, Castletown will face FC Retro who won a 5-4 thriller against Top Joes.

Tony Miller’s hat trick and Craig Nicholson’s brace sent them through with Joes’ goals coming from Martin Murray, Travis Lawrence (2) and Derek Campbell.

The other semi-final will

be between Watten and High Ormlie Hotspur after they defeated Keiss and Thurso Pentland respectively.

Watten notched a 5-3 win thanks to goals from Kai Cameron, Michael Budge (2) and Shane Honeyman (2). Keiss netted via Daniel Hutton, Aiden Young and Bradley Thomson.

Spurs won a tight tussle 4-3 with Ryan Sutherland (Snr), Ryan Sutherland (Jnr), Ben Gordon and Korbyn Cameron hitting the net while Thurso Pentland struck back with goals from Scott Ross (2) and Brandon Macleod.
